Dr Pandora Wright — Consultant Geriatrician — London

Dr Wright is a Consultant Geriatrician and General Physician at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London, with extensive experience in the care of older adults with frailty, memory problems, falls, multiple complex medical conditions, multiple medications, and their impact on day-to-day function and quality of life.

Her approach is holistic and person-centred. She brings together medical, medication, functional, cognitive and social aspects of a person's situation, so the assessment focuses on what matters most to that person.

As one of London's female consultant geriatricians, Dr Wright is comfortable supporting patients and families where the preference for a female specialist matters — for example older women undergoing physical or cognitive assessment, or families navigating culturally-sensitive care planning.

She develops a practical management plan with the patient and, where appropriate, their family or care team. Recommendations are intended to be clear, usable and shared with the wider care team where the patient agrees.

Her NHS experience across hospital and community settings helps her understand the wider context of an older person's health, function, home circumstances and support needs. She brings that perspective to assessments in both the outpatient clinic and the patient's home, and to her recommendations.

Where appropriate, she can organise and oversee pathways and outcomes for further investigations, treatments and follow-up. Where feasible, certain investigations and day case treatments such as infusions may also be arranged on the same day.

Recommendations may also be made for the wider care team, including GPs, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, and nursing teams.
